Finishers by time and wave Skiers in the Birkie Classic are much more spread out than in the skate race, with a flatter bell curve and a relatively constant number of finishers between 3:00 and 6:00. A couple wave 1 skiers and even one from wave 2 made the jump and beat most of the elite wave! The classic race seems to be better broken in to waves in later waves of the race. It probably helps that classic wave sizes are much more constant.

Finishers separated by wave

Percent of each wave finishing in each five minute block Note that due to the very small womens elite field the data are kind of messy for this wave.
